For the sake of anonymity and making your IP more difficult to trace, you could download the TOR browser, though some websites won't allow access to them when using that browser. If I remember correctly, COPP.com couldn't be accessed using TOR.
The TOR browser also allows you to access the deep web, but when exploring the deep web you must be careful about what you look for; there are a lot of illegal and disgusting things that could potentially cause you all sorts of trouble. Though more difficult to trace, governments and others have ways around the anonymity TOR offers. If you use TOR it's a good idea to download VPN (Virtual Privacy Network) software that will add an additional level of anonymity.
I'm sure there are others here who've had much more experience with TOR, VPNs, and the deep web, so maybe they have some advice to offer.

I posted some topics, nothing illegal, but am worried my account could be traced back to my IP and I could be at risk of social isolation if it falls in the hands of someone who would spread it around to people I know personally. How likely is that..? I guess my question is, is the site permanently down, or will it come back up and be used negatively against its law abiding users?

I'm not sure what you're worried about? Did you post some personal identifying information at the other site or something? How is someone apparently supposed to directly link these posts to you? Personally I think unless you did anything illegal than you are worrying far too much about it.

Well as the site is down and redirecting to other place, the google robots see it and with time eventually the images drop from google index.

Exactly, as I said before HE's the one they are after due to the site wide content abuse he just allowed.
It wasn't just a pm or two between a few members, it was everywhere, even in topics/areas that had nothing relevant.

Google will still have cached images for awhile, but the old site is down which means many will start to disappear.
HIGHLY unlikely the content is being manually deleted, if an agency was appropriating the content they would not delete the evidence.
That being said, the only person who'd be manually deleting it would be the Admin from that site, trying to save his own ass.

He's grasping at straws, don't let other people tell you "Oh it's gonna come back to bite you!", stay away from it & don't contact that d-bag of an Admin. You guys have no idea how much money he made from advertisement & loose content moderation, he just sat back & made cash.

Continuing to talk about it does nothing, other than put the spotlight on that guy, & potentially draw in more suckers for his bs deals.

The truth is, that nobody except Admin knows anything. And he ain't telling because I bet that he's working every angle for every advantage he can squeeze out of that thing. Poor idiot is gonna have to get a real job assuming he's not going to jail. And yeah, allowing the stuff he did without moderation was clearly not acceptable. I mean he'd EVENTUALLY get around to his job and maybe delete some threads and some posts, but much remained. A french guy posted a lot of stuff that was never touched.

Someone made the comment that if a (police) agency was appropriating the content that they would not delete the evidence. This is I am sure correct. BUT they sure would not leave it on-line either. It could be locked away in an evidence locker somewhere.

So, assuming that COPP.COM ended because of official action, and if you posted a lot of CP, you might wanna worry. If you posted things like iffy tributes on clothed underage girls publicly (of which there was apparently a great deal of cockings and cum) that's less of a worry. If you kept to PM's, probably even less of a worry.

Also from a practical standpoint, imagine being the one who has to sort through that crap and make determinations who did what, and what law the pic/vid violated in what place/country. They are i am sure doing a first sweep for original content to go after and snag trafficers and pervs that make actual illegal contact, in order to protect innocents first.

If you posted relatively innocuous stuff, kept your filthy hands off minors, and did not blatantly post gobs of CP, you might be more okay than someone who posted their own actual illegal activities. And if you posted using a (series of) TOR and/or VPN connections, you still might be okay, as long a patterns and other sophisticated analysis doesn't get you. Imagine being a cop who has to determine given a finite amount of time and resources, who to go after, and then also determine WHERE that person is, and then make a case. Daunting task, even for the idiots that posted in the open from their home IP. Also remember that the data was shit as well. Was he really even logging IP's? Maybe, maybe not.

So, nobody except Admin has any fucking clue at all about what the truth is. It's just going to have to be a dark cloud that hangs over your ass for the rest of time, or until the expiration of the statute of limitations in your country, if there even is one. Point is, don;t be stupid going forward and hopefully you'll be okay. Just stop being stupid!

IMO the site is down for whatever reason and he is just trying to dupe people and make a quick buck now. Nothing to see here. If something bad were actually happening then only the creeps and cp sickos would need to worry.
